Locale:

A few of the owner’s favourite places in the area:

The fish stall at one end of Tachbrook Street Market – interesting fish at prices much lower than from London fishmongers.   The Blue Cross Hospital in Hugh Street –  who would believe that so many animals lived in central London?! Worth a visit! The Music Library in Buckingham Palace Road has the biggest collection of sheet music in London – rummage through the drawers.   Boisdale in Eccleston Street for a little piece of Scotland in London.  Delicious food and live jazz in a clubby atmosphere and the perfectly named McDonald Bar, stuffed with tartan and serving hundreds of whiskies.  There is an extraordinary open air (but heated with burners) terrace on the roof where you can smoke the vast range of Cuban cigars on sale.   We love St Peter’s Church, Eaton Square, gutted by fire in 1987.  The inside is restored in gorgeous modern style, masses of gold and carved wood and the vicarage, organist’s and verger’s houses on the roof of the church are worth investigating.  You can’t tell they are there from the ground!  And About Thyme (Wilton Road) for the best British food in really cosy surroundings.  And finally Buckingham Palace is five minutes’ walk away and the beach at Brighton is fifty minutes away, ‘door to door’.   Our location at the centre of the transport network is brilliant!
